Retirement

A good friend of mine back in the UK once said – ‘Mike, have you noticed not many mechanics retire?’

They get so sick of it they would rather stack shelves in the supermarket than struggle on with neglected, rusty old cars, getting filthy for not much money – the fun of fixing has gone.

So, as many of you already know, retirement beckons, and I still keep getting jobs coming in which I do not really want, but there is no-one else willing to work on Land Rovers locally

 I cannot keep working 7 days a week – I do not do it for the money, but to keep up, so time to slow down, sorry about that, but it’s now getting a bit too much, and interest/enthusiasm has left the room a long time ago.

I will still do transmissions and steering boxes, but as many of you know, I rely on JP’s machining magic to bring jobs back to life, and with JP being 75 now, there is no one talented enough or willing to do my machining jobs.

The online shop will be modified so that it is no longer fully automated for credit cards except for PayPal and Stripe, as there is a problem with some credit card companies not converting correctly the currencies, so I am well out of pocket; however, it is still active, but with fewer products.

Also, it is costing more in downloadable hosting and buying security products for the online shop than it generates in income now, so the downloadable memory stick has ended, and I will be listing some items on eBay as they handle all the shipping and US cross border taxes/hassles which I have no control over.

(Even the post office will not accept US packages if the taxes and fees are not pre-paid)

I have the Series 1 to sell, and maybe my 130, as I never use it, and  time for someone else to enjoy.

Furthermore, I like to do YouTube videos and will keep making them and responding to comments, and as there are many areas yet to cover, I will have time to concentrate on that.

Subscriptions and donations – exciting news!

Over the last few months, I have been trying to find a better alternative to Patreon for monthly subscriptions.

So I have used PayPal as a processor and I am now in control of subscriptions and donations

This means I can control the amount that you donate, so subscriptions start at only $5.00 US or £4.00 a month

There are no taxes, no hidden fees, no politics, and no 3rd party marketing

Subscription rates are selectable from the drop down menu and you do not need a PayPal account!

If you wish to make a one off donation, that is catered for too!
